In a recent interview, Kanye West (aka ‘Ye’) revealed that he plans to sell his future-forward YZY SHDZ sunglasses at the insanely low price point of $20. He shared, “the glasses will cost $20, and everything in the Ye Supply store will be $20. And, we’re working on how to make clothing free. Because life is free.” A rather bold promise, but if anyone can achieve it, it’s Kanye.
The SHDZ glasses made their public debut as part of a preview of a then-upcoming Yeezy Gap collection, but after the highly publicized (and rather messy) dissolution of this brand partnership, it is unclear under which name the glasses will be released since Gap still has the right to sell any products created within the collab brand name. Perhaps Ye will repurpose the design as part of his plans for a fully independent venture into fashion (while messing with Gap’s probable plan to sell the glasses at a higher price point in the process…which would be a total Kanye move).
Regardless of where they’re launched and by who, there’s no denying the YZY SHDZ are pretty epic and make a major fashion statement. The Sci-Fi-inspired shades have also been getting a ton of celeb/influencer love via countless Instagram posts that have been littering my feed the past few weeks, a few of my favorites below:
